SUMMARY:FUNKEN Extend - Vox Ex Machina
DESCRIPTION:Vox Ex Machina is the innovative result of a cross-sector coll
aboration. Frederike Moormann\, Lefteris Krysalis and embeat \, together w
ith Pinpoint GmbH\, have brought together artistic vision and entrepreneur
ial pragmatism. The spatial composition is the second iteration of the wor
k Rattling Landscapes\, Singing Motors and is based on the further develop
ed prototype of a head-tracked spatial audio installation that combines in
terior geolocalisation with an audio experience. Visitors use headphones t
o immerse themselves in a virtual sound reality\, which they shape themsel
ves by moving through the old machine factory in Gießerstraße.\nThe soun
d installation Vox Ex Machina invites visitors to experience a new type of
technology and at the same time trace the voices of a bygone factory buil
ding. Once a production site for huge industrial machines\, the empty spac
e is now brought to life by rattling\, hissing and singing - voices and ma
chines merge into a single presence.\nLike many European cities\, Chemnitz
has undergone a profound industrial transformation that has left its mark
and at the same time spawned new industries. What remains - despite the c
hange to quieter\, no longer oily "devices"? How can we trace the ghosts i
nherent in the places of industrial upheaval?\nPlease note that the machin
e hall has little or no heating. So dress warmly.\nThe app runs on iPhones
with iOS 26 or later and is optimised for use with AirPods. Some devices
will be provided - so your own devices are welcome (if possible).
